Django Reinhardt en 1937: improvisación e innovación antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial

Resumen:

El presente artículo se propone revisar el estado del vocabulario de improvisación del guitarrista belga Django Reinhardt en uno de los momentos más importantes de su carrera, el año 1937. Para ello, se ha seleccionado una sesión producida el día 22 de abril de 1937 con el fin trabajar con una muestra recogida con unas condiciones idénticas, compuesta por los temas Hot Lips, Ain’t Misbehaving, Rose Room, Body and Soul y When day is done. Los solos efectuados por Django Reinhardt han sido transcritos y sometidos a un análisis melódico – armónico y estilístico desde la perspectiva del jazz para intentar comprender el estado del vocabulario del guitarrista antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, habiendo ya tenido contacto con músicos americanos como Coleman Hawkins y Benny Carter.

Django Reinhardt in 1937: improvisation and innovation befeore the Second World War

Abstract:

This article reaches to revise Django Reinhardt’s improvisation vocabulary in one of the most important moments of his career, the year 1937. We have selected a session recorded in april 22nd in order to get the most similar conditions possible, and the songs registered were Hot Lips, Ain’t Misbehaving, Rose Room, Body and Soul and When day is done. The solos performed by Django Reinhardt have been transcribed and analyzed from a melodic – armonic and stylistic point of view. The main objective is to understand the guitarist’s vocabulary before World War II once he already had contact with American musicians Coleman Hawkins and Benny Carter.
