Apostillas al final de una disputa: La guitarra venezolana en el siglo XIX
Resumen:
En este artículo reflexionamos y compendiamos el debate que hemos sostenido con el musicólogo e historiador Hugo Quintana, sobre la guitarra en Venezuela en el siglo XIX. Y lo hacemos a través de una revisión apegada a sus textos, en particular, sus artículos de 2016 y 2018, al encontrar que, en el último de ellos, el autor desdice argumentos que, durante veinte años, fundamentaron sus posturas frente a nuestros escritos sobre el tema. Aprovechamos para abordar también algunas consideraciones que, acerca de la misma disputa, hizo el musicólogo Juan Francisco Sans, en 2017.

Abstract:
In this article, we return and reflect on the debate held with the musicologist and historian Hugo Quintana, regarding the 19th century guitar in Venezuela. We proceed by giving a close-reading of his works, focusing, particularly, on two articles published in 2016 and 2018.We discover in these what seems to be a contradiction of the author’s own thesis against our position on the topic. Finally, we take the opportunity to shed light on some of the ideas proposed by the musicologist Juan Francisco Sans, in 2017, concerning the same discussion.
